Admitted Student Checklist

Welcome to the ELI!

Congratulations, you’ve been admitted to the English Language Institute! Now what? Check this list to see what you need to do to help you get ready for your life in Syracuse at the ELI.

Before you arrive in Syracuse, you should complete the following steps:

  • Submit your campus housing application to elimail@syr.edu OR search for an apartment in Syracuse through the Off Campus Housing Search.
  • Book your flight to Syracuse and submit the information to our arrival form.
  • Activate your NetID at netid.syr.edu. You will need your SUID to activate your NetID. Your SUID is located on your admissions letter.
  • Activate your Syracuse email account. Your SU email will be your NetID@syr.edu. You will use the password you created when you activated your NetID. Send an email to elimail@syr.edu to confirm that you have accessed your SU email.
  • Submit your photo for your SUID card to the Housing, Meal Plan, and ID Services Office.
  • Upload your health documents to your Patient Portal.
  • Purchase health insurance.
  • Pay your tuition, on campus housing, and meal plan fees. Payments can be made online via FlyWire, Western Union, or MySlice. Tuition payment is due two weeks before your program begins. Once you have paid, send your official payment receipt to elimail@syr.edu.
  • Complete the New Student Registration Form. 

 

Once you arrive in Syracuse, here are your next steps:

  • Move into your new housing.
  • Attend new student orientation. Please bring the following documents and items with you to orientation:
  • Get an American phone number and/or SIM card.
  • Open a US bank account.
  • Check in at the Health Center for health clearance.
  • Buy your textbooks.
  • Attend your first mentor meeting.
  • Sign up for a conversation group and/or partner.
