Student Visa Information & SEVIS

Before you leave your country for Syracuse, you will need to apply for your F-1 Student Visa at a United States Embassy or Consulate. We recommend that you apply at a U.S. facility within your home country as it may be more difficult to gain approval for a visa outside your country of residence. If you will be studying on a J-1 visa, contact us for more information as there are some slight differences.

SEVIS Fee

Before you apply for your visa, you must pay the Student Exchange Visitors Information System (SEVIS) Fee of $350. You can pay the fee online at https://www.fmjfee.com by credit card. Proof of fee payment will be required at your visa interview. Any dependents who are accompanying you will receive their own I-20 document but will NOT be required to pay the SEVIS fee.
