The English for Sports and Art Students (ESAS) program is designed to bridge that gap and empower you to achieve your academic goals.

ESAS: Your Gateway to U.S. Colleges Without TOEFL, IELTS, or Duolingo

The ESAS program is a unique partnership between Syracuse University’s English Language Institute (ELI) and Zhongjiao Jinxin International Culture Co., Ltd. (ZJIC) in China. This program is specifically designed for Chinese high school students with talent in sports or arts who aspire to pursue higher education in the United States.

Who Are Eligible?

  • Passionate and talented Chinese high school seniors or graduates in sports or the arts (no English proficiency test scores required)
  • Successful completion of high school with a diploma and official transcripts

How to Apply?

  1. Get Started:
  • Contact our recruitment partner in China, ZJIC (dba Zhongqing Guoji Sports and Culture International Education co., LTD), or ELI for program details and an evaluation.
  • You will be guided through the application process and have any questions you may have answered.
  1. Submit Your Application:
  • Fill out the online ELI application and submit all required materials with ZJIC’s assistance if needed.

Required Documents:

  • Copy of your passport
  • Proof of financial support: A bank statement or letter showing at least $18,900 for a full semester or $9,500 for a summer session. The statement must be no older than 6 months and in the student’s name or from a sponsor who signs the application under “FINANCIAL SOURCE.”
  • Academic transcripts from your high school
  • A statement explaining your reason for studying English (not exceeding 300 words)
  • $100 non-refundable application fee
  1. Receive Your Admission Decision:
  • Upon acceptance, you’ll receive an ELI admission letter and an I-20 form to apply for your F-1 student visa.
  1. Begin Your English Studies:
  • Based on your evaluation by an ELI faculty, you’ll enroll in Level 2 or higher academic English classes at ELI.
  • Students needing extra support can take pre-sessional English training at a ZJIC learning center in China before starting at ELI.
